GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The Greenville College cheerleading program has announced that Lee Coakley of Greenville, Ill., offered the winning entry of "Hoguey" in the program's "Name the Panther" contest. Coakley graduated from Greenville College in 2000 and has been serving as an assistant track and field coach since 2013.
"Hoguey" is named in honor of the first Greenville College President, Wilson T. Hogue, whose name adorned Greenville College's landmark academic building, Hogue Hall, before its demolition in the summer 2008.
Free Methodist minister Wilson T. Hogue came from the state of New York to lead Greenville College after it was renamed in 1892 and purchased by the Free Methodist Church. He served as president from 1892-1904.
Welcome, "Hoguey", and congratulations Lee!
