Lady Panther Volleyball: This Isn't Last Year

Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill.--Coming off a 15-1 SLIAC record season, the GC Volleyball team is prepared for another successful season. Despite their stellar performance last year, the ladies refuse to rest on that alone and ensure everyone that this year will be even better.

The team returns 11 key players from their roster last year including SLIAC First Team member, Ellen Lueking, and Corinne Coon and Nicole Schaeffer, who both received Second Team honors. In addition to these familiar faces, 8 new freshman will join the team for 2013.

In 2012, the Lady Panthers finished the season at the top of the SLIAC, where they had been sitting for most of the fall. They had a record of 23-9 and were the favorites heading into the SLIAC Tournament. Unfortunately, GC was defeated by Webster University in the Championship match and their season ended in a heart-breaking 3-0 loss.

This year promises to be different. The ladies are determined to return to the NCAA Tournament and prove that this year they are even better.

The team will be under the leadership of Coach Tom Ackerman, who is in his 16th year of coaching at Greenville.

GC kicks off their season with a trip to Iowa to compete in the Grinnell Labor Day Classic. Their first match will be played on August 30 against Hamline.
