Lady Panthers Tennis Sweeps Blackburn in Confrence Tournament

The GC women took on the Blackburn Beavers in Round 1 of the SLIAC Tournament and came out with a 9-0 victory.
In singles play, all six GC players won with impressive scores. No. 1 Jamie Harling endedher match with a score of6-6, 6-2. Katie Maurer, in the No. 2 spot, won 6-2, 7-5. Kristin Minshall beat her Beaver opponent 6-1, 6-2. Kristen Lynch came out on top as wellin a 6-1, 6-0 decision. No. 5 player, Kim Minshall, overtook her adversary 6-1, 6-1. Lastly, Chelsie Evans played well earning a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
Doubles play went equally as well for the Panthers. The No. 1 team of Harling and Maurer out-played their Blackburn competition 8-2. Kristin and Kim Minshall got the No. 2 doubles victory with a close 8-6 win. Finally, Lynch and Evans dominated their match winning 8-0 and getting the Lady Panthers the sweep.
With this win, the Lady Panthers move on to the second round of the conference tournament where they will face Webster. The women hope to continue their winning ways and play for the championship.
