#GivingTuesday GU: Mary Ashlyn Paisley '24

Hands-heart_orangeWEB.pngI choose GU, where my heart for service finds encouragement and room to grow.

McAllaster Honors Scholar Mary Ashlyn Paisley ’24 boasts a strong GU heritage: her grandparents Jack and Susan Chism taught at GU for many years, and her parents met on campus as undergraduates.

But Mary has a different reason to attend GU: she felt God called her there.

“I know God was telling me to come [to GU] and He confirmed it multiple times,” she says.

Mary appreciates that “I never have to think of my faith and my studies as separate things since it’s a Christian university.”

That’s important to Mary because her faith and her heart to serve others influence the direction her ministry major nay take. Equipped with know-how, skills and experience along the way, she can better fill her calling as Christ’s hands and feet to the world.

It’s no wonder this servant-leader-in-training watches other servant leaders like GU donors. She considers how they provide for students they’ve never met: “I really admire them.”
