Men's Basketball Drops Blackburn

Published: April 13, 2021

CARLINVILLE, Ill. -- The men's basketball team kept their hold on the fifth place position in the SLIAC standings with a 72-56 Saturday win at Blackburn. Ron Harris' double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds led Greenville.

After topping Blackburn by 40 points at home in December, the Panthers had a more difficult time Saturday despite holding at 15 point lead at the halftime intermission. In the second half, the Beavers kept up with the Panthers, but they were not able to put a dent in Greenville's halftime advantage.

Among Greenville's other leaders, Alex Mumphard chipped in 16 points. Nick Trisko collected eight rebounds, and Harris paced the team in blocks with 3.

The Panthers (12-8, 8-5 SLIAC) will close their season with five home games. The first will be a contest against Webster on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. Currently, GC trails Westminster by 1 1/2 games for the fourth conference tournament position.
