Men's tennis runs winning streak to seven

Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's tennis team improved their winning streak to seven as they shutout Westminster 9-0 on a beautiful spring day at the Scott J. Burgess tennis complex.

They began the match by dominating doubles play with wins of 8-3, 8-2, and 8-0.

Their success continued on into singles play, with the Panthers winning all six singles matches.

It had been 10 years since GC had defeated Westminster in mens tennis. During that stretch Westminster dominated the SLIAC, winning eight of 10 conference titles. Last season, the Panthers' season ended at the hands of Westminster with a difficult 5-4 defeat in the SLIAC semifinals.

The Panther season record now stands at 9-2 (1-0 SLIAC). They will host Webster on Wednesday, April 8.
