Men's track and field led by Gray in 60

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The men's track and field team sent six to the Wisconsin - Stevens Point Pointers NCAA Qualifier meet as they competed in eight events. As he has done all season, Bruce Gray solidified his spot among the NCAA elite by taking second in the 60 meter dash to a former NCAA champion.

Gray posted the best time of the preliminaries as his 6.93 second time in the 60 was best in his heat. In the finals, Gray placed second to Thurgood Dennis as Gray improved with a 6.82 second mark.

Gray also finished sixth in the 200 meter dash with a 22.40. This was the second best time of his preliminary heat.

Jumper Jarrid Williams posted two top eight finishes. He was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 6.57 meters (21 feet, 6.75 inches) and eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.75 meters (41-10).

Jonah Peoples tallied a 13th place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a mark of 8.63 seconds.

Bryan Waugh competed in the weight throw and reached a distance of 14.27 meters (46-10) to place 19th.

Nathan Allyn ranked 24th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:01.69 which was best in his heat.

Andrew Sharp ran 4:39.76 as he was 30th in the one mile run.

Gray, a senior, will represent Greenville in the NCAA Division III indoor national championships on Friday and Saturday in Winston Salem, N.C. The preliminaries in the 60 meter and 200 meter dashes will be run on Friday with the finals on Saturday.
