JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The men's track and field team used Andrew Sharp's victory in the 800 meter run and performances in two relays to place fifth of 12 teams at the Illinois College Snow Bird Open on Saturday.

Sharp provided a time of 2:00.24 in the 800 to give Greenville 10 of its 63 points.

Two Panther participants ranked second in their events to record eight points each. Jarrid Williams leapt 6.28 meters in the long jump in his only attempt that didn't end in a foul. Ryan Burgess gave Greenville a throw of 15.01 meters in the weight throw as he led a group of three Panthers - Dusty Atteberry, Chris Crawford, and Ben Perry - who placed fourth through sixth, respectively, in the weight throw competition.

Two relay teams provided third place marks. The distance relay team of Nathan Allyn, John Mangold, Nathan Potts, and Sharp recorded a 10:59.53 in their event. The 4x400 meter relay team comprised of Allyn, Matt Hughes, Potts, and Sharp produced a 3:33.86.

Hughes' mark of 1.85 meters in the high jump was good for fifth place.

The Panthers travel to Principia for their next meet on on Friday, Jan. 29.
