Men’s track and field takes two event championships at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. The NCAA Division III No. 20 mens track and field team competed Saturday at Monmouth. The Panthers saw seniors Bruce Gray and Bryan Waugh pick up first place marks in the 60 meter dash and weight throw, respectively.

Gray returned to form with a mark of 6.91 seconds in the finals. He entered the finals with the events best time as he posted a 7.03 in the preliminaries.

Waugh used a throw of 16.41 meters (53-10.25) to win the weight throw. Waugh hit the mark in his first attempt.

Taking third place honors at the meet were Gray in the 200 and Jarrid Williams in the long jump. Gray crossed the finish line in 22.36 seconds as the winner of the second heat. Williams leapt 6.59 meters (21-7.5).

The 800 meter relay team and Dustin Atteberry returned with fourth place accolades. The 4x200 meter relay team of Matt Hughes, Matthew McGowen, Terran Daniels, and Williams finished in 1:34.96. Atteberrys best throw was 14.31 meters (46-11.5).

Qualifying members of the team return to action Friday and Saturday at the NCCAA indoor national championships at Cedarville.
