Men's volleyball stumbles against No. 3 Carthage

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's volleyball team pushed Carthage to their limits in set number three, but it was not enough as the Panthers lost in three sets to the AVCA NCAA Division III No. 3 ranked Carthage Red Men on Friday night.

Carthage hit at superior levels in sets one and two as they had 10 kills and one error in 16 attacks in the first set and performed even better in set two 11 kills and one error in 15 attacks.

Meanwhile, Greenville committed 11 attack errors in the first set and six in the second set and hit for a negative average as Carthage took the first two sets 25-12, 25-12.

The third set was a complete turnaround for Greenville as the Panthers dropped the set 25-23 but showed Carthage that they have talent.

Greenville's Nicolas Bilinski produced eight kills with four errors in 16 attempts to led the Panther offensive efforts.

Tanner Smith provided 18 assists.

On the defensive side of the ledger, Andrew Johnson totaled nine digs, and Kyle Ward had a solo block and block assist.

The Panthers (5-3, 0-1 MCVL) return to action Saturday at 7 p.m. when they host No. 15 Milwaukee Engineering at 7 p.m.

in the last set.
