Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill. - In a battle of last year's conference championship game, the Greenville College men's soccer team defeated Webster University 3-0 Tuesday at Greenville. Coming into the game, Greenville was tabbed as the pre-season SLIAC conference favorite with Webster close behind in second. Before the matchup both teams had winning records and both teams were 1-0 in conference play.

Starting the scoring for Greenville in the 36th minute was a 25-yard left footed blast from junior forward Cobi Allen who was assisted by sophomore Nathan Mayberry. At halftime, the score was 1-0 with Greenville outshooting Webster 8-3 in the half.

In the second half, junior forward David Dunlop scored on a diagonal run pass again from Nathan Mayberry before freshman Mark Ward broke the game open with a 20-yard blast to round out the scoring in the 76th minute.

Greenville currently stands with a 7-3 record (2-0 SLIAC). Greenville plays on Saturday against Westminster College in a battle of top teams in the conference as Westminster comes into the game with a 7-2-1 record.
