Men’s Soccer Dropped 3-1 at Principia in SLIAC Duel

Published: April 13, 2021

ELSAH, Ill. Greenville was outpaced 3-1 by the Panthers of Principia on Tuesday night in a heated battle of the SLIACs top squads.

Despite several chances in front of the net and ten corner kick opportunities, the Black & Orange of GC failed to capitalize in the crucial conference duel. Principia College used goals in the 7th, 47th, and 81st minutes to insure the SLIAC victory. Greenville showed life and applied second half pressure in the 48th minute on a brilliant strike from the 18 by senior David Dunlop, but the effort failed to jump-start the road team to a late rally.

Dunlop spearheaded the GC attack in the loss, ripping five shots and netting the Panthers lone goal.

With the defeat Greenville mens soccer drops to 11-6-3 (6-2 SLIAC) and finished a successful 2011 regular season with a #2 finish in the SLIAC. GC has clinched a birth into the 2011 SLIAC Tournament and will look to dominate post-season play commencing with Semifinal action on Wednesday, November 2 and followed by the Championship game on Saturday, November 5.
