Men’s Soccer Rips Past Benedictine 5-1

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Greenville College Mens Soccer blew past Benedictine University of Springfield 5-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Francis Field.

With the win the Panthers now stand at 7-3-3 for the season and their SLIAC record remains 2-0.

The Panthers started the game with a different line-up than usual, opting to play a number of second-team players. The first goal came from Daniel Ruder in the early part of the first half. Daniel Taylor scored the second goal with an on the ground kick putting the Panthers up 2-0.

Cobi Allen scored the third goal for the Panthers followed by a Benedictine-Springfield goal making the score 3-1. With 30 minutes to go Nathan Mayberry scored making the score 4-1. Chapin Richards finished the scoring in the final minutes of play to give GC the 5-1 win.

The Panthers next game is on Wednesday away against Oakland City (3:00 PM). The Panthers take on conference rivals Westminster University atWestminster (5:00 PM).
