Men’s Tennis: Joe Newlin Named SLIAC Tennis Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Greenville College's Joe Newlin, a senior from St. Louis, Mo. (McCluer), has been named the SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 28-April 3. This marks the second time this season that he has earned the honor.

Newlin posted a 4-0 record at #1 singles and 3-1 at #1 doubles, as the Panthers went 2-2 last week. Newlin swept Fontbonne University's Bryton Curtis 6-0, 6-0 in singles play, while he also battled Westminster's Tony Stephenson to a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory. Newlin also had two non-conference singles victories last week, 6-2, 6-2 against Berea College and 6-2, 6-4 against Asbury College.

In doubles action, Newlin partnered with teammate Ian Wolf to win 8-3 against Fontbonne, 8-1 against Berea and 8-6 versus Asbury.
