Published: April 13, 2021

CARLINVILLE, Ill.--The GC men's soccer team traveled to Carlinville to take on the Blackburn Beavers and had a dominant 5-0 victory.

Greenville's Spencer Pulliam scored the first goal of the game in the 9th minute and both Jacob Krisher and Robert Wright were credited with the assist. Krisher would score the next Panther goal in the 31st minute when he finished a pass from Aaron Mulholland. Senior, Ryan Haas, was the next player to find the back of the net just six minutes later. Haas' goal brought GC up 3-0 at the half.

In the second half of the game, Elliot Thompson assisted Wright for a goal in the 50th minute. The final goal of the match was scored by sophomore, Justin Mulholland, who received a pass from Wille Kersey and shot it past the Beaver 'keeper in the 67th minute. The game would end a 5-0 victory for the Panthers.

"The team stepped up and put another professional performance in," said head coach, Chris Swift. "After a very tough non-conference schedule, we now have some momentum at the right time...Right now, we are exactly where we want to be, in control of our own destiny."

GC outshot their opponents 33 to 5 in the match. Goalkeepers Thomas Crown and Ian McReynolds split the match, each playing 45 minutes. Crown tallied one save and McReynolds was credited with two. Both 'keepers helped the Panthers record the shut-out victory.

This impressive win brings the Panthers' record to 6-7-3 (5-1 SLIAC). Greenville will play again on Saturday, October 26 in another SLIAC match-up at Westminster.
