Panthers Can't Catch Blue Jays, Fall 45-28

The third time was not a charm for the Greenville College Panthers who lost their third game in as many tries Saturday. The Westminster College Blue Jays (4-0, 3-0 UMAC) broke a four game losing streak to the Panthers, winning by a final score of 45-28.

Panthers Can't Catch Blue Jays, Fall 45-28 At the half the Panthers led the Blue Jays 14-12. The Blue Jays scored two touchdowns in the first quarter but could not convert either PAT. It was the third quarter where Westminster took the lead for good. Two drives of 69 and 72 yards in the quarter wore out the Panther defense. The fourth quarter began with another Blue Jay touchdown. The rest of the game was a back and forth with the final touchdown coming with 1:00 minute left in the game.

The Panthers were led by SO QB Brendan Chambers (San Clemente, CA) who had another stellar performance on the ground and in the air. Chambers rushed 20 times for 113 yards and threw for 115 yards on 10-20 passing with a touchdown. SR safety Andy Lozano (Desert Hot Springs, CA) led the defense with 11.5 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. FR DL Steven Sullivan had 2 tackles for loss and a sack.

Panthers Can't Catch Blue Jays, Fall 45-28 The Blue Jays were led by SO QB Scott Rodgers who was 30-44, 409 yards and 4 touchdowns. On defense LB Jacob Rex had 7.5 tackles for Westminster.

Next week the Panthers will be on the road for the first time in 2011. Greenville will travel to Saint Bonifacius, MN to take on the Storm of Crown College (0-3, 0-2 UMAC). Kickoff is at 1PM CST.
