Give Greenville: Sidney Webster, MOSAIC Scholar

As Sidney Webster '21 approached her freshman year at GU, the gravity of paying for a college degree hit her.

Sidney describes it as “an overwhelming sensation that I thought I could never overcome.” She needed a degree to achieve her future plans, but what if the financial burden proved too much?

Fear turned to relief when donors rescued Sidney with the MOSAIC Diversity Scholarship. This $18,000 award, potentially renewable each year, took a big bite out of that daunting tuition bill.

Donors like you offer the gift, and Sidney pays it forward to others. She gives back by serving on the Greenville Student Government Association as class president, supporting her teammates on the women’s basketball team, working as student blogger for GU’s marketing department, and helping fellow MOSAIC scholars through her involvement in the MOSAIC Student Association—all made possible thanks to donor generosity.

Her service won’t stop there. When Sidney graduates GU, she plans to teach high school English while working toward a master’s in guidance counseling and a doctorate in school administration. She plans to become a principal and, eventually, sit on the Illinois State Board of education, where Sidney hopes to help shape the future of Illinois’ public school system.

Sidney expresses deep gratitude to donors: “Without your contribution, countless numbers of students wouldn’t be given the valuable, unique experience at Greenville offers. It’s an amazing place. If you didn’t understand that, you wouldn’t be giving.”

Join #GiveGreenville and ease the fears of students like Sidney so they can focus on giving to others.
