SLIAC Power Westminster Bests Men’s Tennis

Published: April 13, 2021

CONCORDIA, Mo. GC mens tennis failed to overcome a stingy Westminster squad on Monday, as the Bluejays handed the Black & Orange a 9-0 defeat at Concordias Bethel Park.

Despite WCs handling of the Panthers, GC battled hard throughout and dropped several matches that could have gone either way. Senior Ian Wolf was edged 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 in No. 1 singles play and freshman Jordan Tingle was ousted in a close 6-3, 7-6, (8-6) battle at No. 2s

I was pleased with our effort and we battled at every single spot, commented head coach Brett Brannon. We are a very young team, and I knew that we would have to learn how to win close matches.

Doubles play was more of the same for the visiting Panthers, with all three doubles tandems falling in close exhibitions.

We have now proven that we can be competitive with very good teams, continued Brannon. Now we need to figure out how to get results against very good teams. That was the challenge that I presented to our team with after the match.

GC mens tennis will look for redemption on Thursday, April 29 as SLIAC bottom feeder Fontbonne University come to Greenville for an afternoon conference tilt.
