Softball assigned to Trine NCAA regional

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The Greenville softball team has been placed in the NCAA regional hosted by Trine.  The Lady Panthers qualified for their first NCAA national tournament by winning the championship of the SLIAC tournament.

Greenville (23-20-1) will play the host on Thursday.  It is a double-elimination regional.

The winner of the Trine Regional will face the winner of the Lake Forest Regional.

The Lady Panthers have faced a number of opponents in the NCAA field, including St. Thomas, Luther, St. Catherine, and Washington-St. Louis.

The schedule is as follows -

Thursday, May 12
11 a.m. ET – University of Chicago vs. Wheaton College
1:30 p.m. ET – Trine University vs. Greenville College

Friday, May 13
11 a.m. ET – Game one winner vs. Game two winner
1:30 p.m. ET – Game one loser vs. Game two loser
4 p.m. ET – Game four winner vs. Game three loser

Saturday, May 14
12 p.m. ET – Championship game one
2:30 p.m. ET – Championship game two (if necessary)
