Softball Drops Both Contests in Day 2 Action

Published: April 13, 2021

TITUSVILLE, Fla. The Lady Panthers struggled to find their groove on Monday, as the club fell to a pair of Minnesota schools in day two spring break play. Minnesota Crookston earned the win in the first 6-3, while the Greenville fell to Minnesota St. Moorhead 10-4 in the second.

In game one the Lady Panthers were again led by freshman shortstop Mattie Fairchild, who looked to keep the squad in the game with a two RBI stroke in the fifth inning. Fairchild batted two-for-four in the contest that saw Greenville defeated 6-3.

On the mound Lindsey Schuberth picked up her third loss of the road trip. Schuberth pitched six innings with seven hits, while striking out five and surrendering three earned runs.

Game two against Minnesota St. Moorhead ended in much the same fashion, dealing Greenville a 10-4 loss and the fourth straight defeat of spring break 2011.

The junior Schuberth stepped out of her normal pitching role to lead the club offensively from the DH spot, going two-for-four with an RBI.

Sophomore pitcher Angela Sheets earned the loss in the contest, going 5.2 innings while giving up eight earned.

Greenville will look to day three for their first win the 2011 season as they get set for a rematch with Minnesota St. Moorhead in a 9:00 am showdown.
