Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill. Softball (13-18, 8-6 SLIAC) faced off against SLIAC leader Spalding on Friday, and failed to provide enough offensive support in the double-header to claim a win. GC scored only one run on the afternoon and fell to the Lady Eagles 3-0 in the opener and 2-1 in the capper.

Lindsay Schuberth was charged the loss in game one, going seven innings with three earned on six hits.

The club only totaled four hits in the contest, with two of the pokes coming from second baseman Angie Doherty. Doherty batted 2-for-3 in 3-0 the loss.

Game two proved to be a closely contested seven-inning battle, decided in the sixth. Spalding picked up a key RBI single, and Greenville failed to put up a run in the top of the seventh to prolong the game. GC fell 2-1.

On the mound Angela Sheet was dealt the loss, pitching six innings while surrendering two earned on six hits.

Freshman Sarah Gerig led the Lady Panthers at plate, batting 1-for-3 with an RBI.

The Lady Panthers will return to action Monday, May 2, as they take on the Lady Red Devils of Eureka College in an afternoon double-header. GC softball will look to win at least one game of the following series to clinch a birth in the SLIAC tournament.
