Softball sweeps Grinnell

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The softball team improved their record to 7-4 with a doubleheader sweep of Grinnell on Thursday.

The Lady Panthers won the first game as they rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the 9-8 win.

Greenville led 4-1 after the first inning and tacked on two runs in the third.

Over the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, Grinnell erased Greenville's lead and went on top by one heading into Greenville's last at bat.

Jessica Laubecher's two-run single gave Greenville the win.

Becca Oldham threw 5.1 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. Ashlei Tuel relieved Oldham and surrendered the lead.

Shannon Elbe was 3-for-3 with two runs scored.

Laubecher went 3-for-3 with four RBI

Game two was all Greenville as the Lady Panthers rolled to a 10-5 win.

The Lady Panthers led 3-0 after one and 5-1 after two. Greenville tacked on three runs in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Laubecher picked up her first pitching win of the year as she threw five innings and gave up five runs, two earned, on eight hits.

Hannah Burger relieved with two scoreless innings.

Tiffany Samsoe was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI.

Anaya Tobiason went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI.

The Lady Panthers host Blackburn in a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.
