Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- As a part of a series of transitions occurring this summer, Greenville Colleges head mens and womens volleyball coach Tom Ackerman will begin a new role as associateathletic director in the coming months. This new role will accompany his current position as head womens volleyball coach. Greenville College has begun an immediate search for a full time head mens volleyball coach.

During Ackermans tenure as head womens coach, the volleyball team has experienced a formidable amount of success. The accomplishments of Ackermans teams have included six consecutive SLIAC regular season championships, NCAA tournament bids in 2010 and 2015, seven consecutive seasons with 20 or more wins, and a record of 141-45 in the last five seasons. Coach Ackerman is also a five-time SLIAC Coach of the Year award recipient.

Under Ackermans incumbency as head mens volleyball coach, the mens team finished their inaugural season with a 16-11 record and were seventh in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League. They topped all first year conference programs with their seventh place position in a league of 14 teams.

I feel fortunate to be at an institution like Greenville College that greatly values the volleyball programs, said Ackerman. "The investment that GC has made in both the womens and mens programs shows that they believe in what we are doing academically, culturally, and competitively. I will remain heavily involved in all aspects of both programs. We are very excited to add a full time mens coach to our incredible staff.

Ackermans new administrative position will primarily consist of administrative duties and staff support. He will also be assisting with the recruitment process in the current athletic programs.
