EUREKA, Ill. Greenville was a prevailing force at the Eureka tri-match on Saturday as they rolled through Principia College 3-1 and Fontbonne University 3-0.

In their first match against Principia College Greenvilles aggressive offense was showcased as Corinne Coon, Nicole Schaeffer, Taylor Brunner, and Ansley DeVrieze put away 49 kills collectively. Coon led the pack with 15 total kills, 7 of which she collected in the fourth set to shut out Principia.

Other highlighted Panthers include Greenville setter, Janell Crow, who ended the night with 50 assists while middle blocker Tricia Gall was a dominating defensive force with 6 block assists and 2 block solos.

Together their offensive and defensive potency earned GC the 3-1 win.

Our girls played incredibly smart, disrupting Prins offense and taking out their number one offensive weapon. On top of that we played one of our best offensive matches. Commented assistant coach Jenna Marcotte.

The second match of the day highlighted the future of Greenville volleyball. As Greenville took on Fontbonne University, freshmen Marie Kendrick, Lauren Sheline, Kristin Frey, and Joelle Scholten had a chance to showcase their talents.

Nicole Schaeffer, also a freshman, led the team with 12 kills while Frey contributed 7 kills and 0 errors on 16 attempts in only two sets. The up-and-coming Panther squad had no problem defeating the Griffins 25-16, 25-23, and 25-13.

The Fontbonne match was a great opportunity for our future contributors to get an opportunity to play. We have a deep bench and a lot of flexibility. Commented head coach Tom Ackerman.

The Panthers now stand with a 4-1 conference record, and will look to defeat Webster at home on September 26 at 7:00 PM.
