Women's Soccer Drops Close Battle to Depauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind.--The Lady Panthers attempted a second-half comeback but could not climb out of the 2-0 halftime deficit and fell 2-1 when the final whistle blew.

The first goal came in the 8th minute when Depauw's Elizabeth Seewer found the back of the net. 32 minutes later, Depauw would score again when Chloe Jacob finished her shot with five minute remaining in the first half. The two home team goals brought GC down 2-0 heading into halftime.

At the start of the second half, the Panthers were determined to come back. In the 57th minute, GC senior, Kelsey Panzau, scored a beautiful goal to bring the score to 2-1. Mo Murphy was credited with the assist. The Panther defense shut out Depauw in the second half, but the visitor's were unable to tie the game and it ended 2-1 favoring Depauw.

The team's record now stands at 2-9 heading into a long stretch of SLIAC match-ups. The first of these Conference games will come on Saturday, October 12, when the Panthers travel to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to take on the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers.
