Women's Track and Field Earns 11th at NCCAA Outdoor Championships

ROME, Ga. -- The NCCAA outdoor championships on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday saw the Greenville College women's track and field team take 11th place among the event's 26 scoring teams with 24 points. Taylor Brunner was G.C.'s highest finisher, taking third place in the grueling heptathlon.

Brunner scored 4206 points in the seven-event competition. She was the top finisher among heptathletes in the javelin throw with a mark of 36.57 meters. She was second in the high jump, clearing 1.53 meters, and third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.09 seconds.

The 4x100 meter relay squad featuring Gabrielle Perdue, Alex Gregory, Iyeesha Deberry, and Chelseas Gilles placed fourth with a time of 48.94 seconds.

In the hammer throw, Maggie McMurtrey threw for a fifth place finish with a distance of 44.21 meters.

In the 200 meter dash, Gregory ran for a time of 26.01 seconds and a sixth place finish.

Three Lady Panthers were seventh as Gregory ran a 12.60 100-meter dash, Chelsea Gilles had a time of 59.83 seconds in the 400 meter dash, and Sierah Ruffner cleared 1.57 meters in the high jump.

On Friday, May 9, the women head to Louisville, Ky., for a meet.
