Women's track and field ranks fifth at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The women's track and field team was led by wins in three events as they chalked up 54 points in their fifth place showing at Illinois College.

Those winning events included Chelsea Gilles in the 400 meter dash, the 4x200 meter relay team, and Sierah Ruffner in the high jump.

Gilles clocked a time of 58.95 seconds in her winning 400, and she joined Alex Gregory, Josie Muniana, and Sydney Porter with a 1:48.17 in the 4x200.

Ruffner produced a lifetime best mark of 1.62 meters (5-3.25) in her high jump victory.

Rachel Hanna was third in the pole vault with a lifetime high of 2.98 meters (9-8).

Two entries ranked fifth. They included the women's distance medley and Gregory in the 60.

The distance medley team consisting of Megan McKee, Rachel Renshaw, Sheridan Noll, and Molly Works completed the event in 13:52.79.

Gregory crossed the line in 8.11 seconds.

Other notable accomplishments included performances from two women who were seventh.

Marideth Tate's weight throw distance of 13.02 meters (42-8.5) was a lifetime best, and Brooke Goodyear shaved six seconds off her personal best in the mile run with a 5:24.17.

The Lady Panthers travel to Monmouth next Saturday.
