Women's track and field takes second at Greenville Invitational

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's track and field team placed second at the Greenville Invitational on Saturday as they recorded 116 points in a field of 10 teams. The squad was also second in the SLIAC competition as the unit piled up 150 points to fall short of the championship by 18 points.

Greenville's Chelsea Gilles doubled up with titles in the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash.

The Panthers also had the top two finishers in the 800 meter run with Krissy Finley placing first, followed by Brooke Goodyear in second.

The Panthers team of Iyeesha Deberry, Alex Gregory, Josie Muniania, and Chelsea Gilles grabbed the 4x100 meter relay title.

Michaela Harris notched a first place finish in the triple jump while fellow field member Abby Hill grabbed first in the hammer throw with a distance of 46.30 meters.

The Lady Panthers will send qualifying members of the team to the NCCAA outdoor national championships from April 30 to May 2 in Rome, Ga.
