Women's track and field wins two events at Principia

ELSAH, Ill. -- The women's track and field team was paced by the event winning performances of Sierah Ruffner and Chelsea Gilles as the team posted nine finishes in the top six at the Principia Relays.

Ruffner won the high jump in a jump off when she cleared 1.61 meters in the event's top performance.

Gilles led the field in the 500 meter run as she posted a time of 1:18.56 to set a school record.

The 4x800 meter relay team and distance medley teams were second in their events.

Brooke Goodyear, Sheridan Noll, Rachel Renshaw, and Brianna Cox ran the 4x800 in 10:56.21

Goodyear, Gilles, Noll, and Molly Works joined their efforts to finish the distance medley in 13:31.42.

Gilles finished fourth in the finals of the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.052 seconds.

Greenville's second distance medley team comprised of Lia Kruse, Renshaw, Cox, and Megan McKee was fourth as they completed the event in 14:12.56.

Sidney Porter was Greenville's final fourth place finisher as she had 2,339 points in the pentathlon. Porter ranked second in the pentathlon's long jump with a leap of 5.09 meters.

The Lady Panthers will send their multi-event competitors to Illinois Wesleyan on Friday, and the team will compete at Illinois College on Saturday.
