Women's volleyball sweeps two matches

GREENVILLE, Ill. The womens volleyball team opened SLIAC action with a 2-0 mark and ran their winning streak to three matches as they defeated Westminster and Eureka with a pair of three-game victories on Saturday.

With a 25-15, 25-20, 27-25 win over Westminster, Greenville sent a strong message that they will remain favored in the race for the regular season title.

Greenvilles offense was led by Savannah Sells who accounted for 11.5 points with nine kills, one solo block, and one block assist.

Kirsten Laune provided 26 assists, and Riley Hannula accumulated four service aces in the win.

Jamie Schollenbruch picked up 14 digs.

The Lady Panthers dominated Eureka in the second match of the day with a 25-12, 25-15, 25-12 victory.

Hannula piled up 9.5 points with eight kills and three block assists in the win.

Felicity Giddings came up with 16 assists, and Laune contributed 15 assists.

Giddings, Laune, and Schollenbruch each had four service aces.

Schollenbruch performed as well as usual on defense with a match-high nine digs.

The Lady Panthers (4-5) travel to Lincoln Christian for a match on Tuesday.
