Women's Basketball Rides Hot First Half to Win

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's basketball team opened the Panther Paws for Poverty Classic with a 88-79 win over St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Friday. Greenville scored 65 points in the first half. Coley Baker was Greenville's star as she collected 17 points, 13 rebounds, and seven blocked shots.

Leading 65-40 at the intermission, St. Mary-of-the-Woods gave Greenville all it could handle in the second half as the Lady Panthers were outscored by 16 in the second stanza.

Baker and Ieisha Adams were the leading scorers for Greenville with 17 points each. Adams added nine assists and four steals. Laura Hobbie posted 15 points, and Jamie Schollenbruch totaled 14 points.

The win was Greenville's sixth in seven games and improved their record to 6-2. The Lady Panthers return to action Saturday as they host Robert Morris - Springfield at 1 p.m.
