Women’s Cross Country Places Eighth at Washington University

ST. LOUIS - The Greenville womens cross country team competed at the Washington University Early Bird, Saturday, Sept. 4, where they ran strong against a 16-team field.

The women found their stride early by placing two women in the top 10 and taking eighth place with a score of 187.

The women were led by senior Michelle Sutton (Springport, Mich./Jackson) who placed fourth with a time of 15:14 in the womens 4K race. Freshman Aubree Schreder took seventh with a top 10 finish and was followed by Rosie Nelson who placed 26th overall respectively.

The Washington University Early Bird showcased 147 total runners, from 16 teams varying from NCAA to NAIA universities.

I was very pleased with our finish, remarked head coach Brian Patton. This was a great start for us, and hopefully we can build off of it.

The women will travel to Illinois State University for their next meet. The Illinois State Illinois Intercollegiate Championships will take place Friday, Sept. 17, and will be the second contest for the womens cross country team.
