Women's Soccer Scores Win at Eureka

EUREKA, Ill.--After the game was cancelled last week due to weather, the Lady Panthers went back to Eureka and played them once again, this time finishing the game with a 5-2 win.

Eureka got the early lead when Kesli Blankenship scored a goal from 25 yards out in the 22nd minute of the game. Greenville answered 14 minutes later with a goal of their own by Jen Williams and the assist from Amanda Herr. Seconds after GC's first goal, Allie Rueter put another in the net for the Panthers to bring the score to 2-1 Greenville heading into halftime.

The Panthers continued scoring in the second half, when Haley Thatchershot the ball past the Eureka goalkeeper in both the 75th and 80th minutes of the game off of assists from Kayla Panzau and Natalie Henneberry. Eureka was able to score one more goal in the game when, in the 82nd minute, Katie McLaughlin finished a pass from Blankenship for the Red Devils' second goal of the game. Despite Eureka's efforts, GC's Lexi Baysinger would have the final word, putting the ball in the back of the net with just 6 minutes left in the game. The final scorewas Greenville-5, Eureka-2.

This win brings the Lady Panthers' record to 9-7-1 (5-2 SLIAC) The women play again Saturday, Oct. 27, when they take ontheir Conference rivals, Webster University at 4:00p.m. for Senior Night.
