Middle Grades Coursework

Greenville University offers methods courses that lead to Middle Grades endorsements in Language Arts, Social Science, Science, and Mathematics.

Middle Grade endorsements allow an already licensed teacher to add an endorsement to teach in a specific content area in grades 5 through 8.

Middle Grade endorsements require a content-specific methods course within the 18-hour coursework requirement and passage of the appropriate content test. Greenville University offers the content-specific methods course and strongly recommend those seeking Middle Grade endorsements complete GU EDUC 342 Middle Grades Philosophy/Curriculum/Literacy.

Greenville University’s School of Education is accredited through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).

Click here to see the list of coursework that is acceptable for all endorsement areas from ISBE.
