New Student Guide - Medical Resources

0

Greenville College, in cooperation with Greenville doctors and Greenville Regional Hospital, has arranged for excellent medical services for all of its students. Both students and their families may rest assured that when medical needs arise, ample care is available. Greenville College enjoys a close relationship with local doctors and the hospital, which is located just a few blocks from campus.

At all times, a Resident Chaplain is on duty at the College to meet the needs of students. When a medical need arises, the students' Resident Chaplain and Coordinator of Residence Education will do whatever is necessary to help them. When the doctors' offices are closed, the students' CRE can help them obtain the necessary medical assistance.

Greenville Regional Hospital

Greenville Regional Hospital offers a 24-hour physician staffed emergency room and on-site ambulance service. Community support has enabled Greenville Regional Hospital to secure some of the latest in medical equipment and technology, including an in-house MRI and CT scanner. Should your student need to see a specialist, a clinic with approximately 50 specialty offerings is also available.

For a complete listing of physicians and services available at Greenville Regional Hospital, visit www.GreenvilleRegionalHospital.com or call 618-664-1230, x3006.

School Insurance

Many families have insurance plans that do not cover a college student after the age of 18. Costly medical bills can impose hardships on both the family and the student. Greenville College offers students low cost accident and sickness insurance. The College contracts with an insurance provider for students not covered by another plan, or who wish to have additional coverage. Gallagher Koster Insurance Company provides the school insurance at the cost of $649.00 per year.

All traditional students must either enroll or waive the insurance online at www.gallagherkoster.com, click on "College and University Student", and select Greenville College from the drop down menu. Click on "Student Waive/Enroll Forms". Be sure that you have your ID number handy as you will need this to complete the waiver/enrollment form.

Athletic Insurance

Greenville College student athletes participating in a varsity sport are required to purchase athletic insurance from the College. The athletic insurance is separate from the school's insurance. Under this policy, the student is required to have a primary insurance plan. The athletic insurance is a secondary insurance. The policy assures that student athletes will be covered by insurance in case of a sports related injury. For more information, call the Athletics Office at 618-664-6622.
