The Program

Mallinckrodt is offering an 11-week internship program, which provides an immersive experience in the world of pharmaceuticals. As an MNK Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful and impactful work that compliments the degree you are pursuing. Here, you will be able to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to a corporate environment. In addition, our internship program is designed to include networking opportunities across the company, professional development workshops, and community service.

Summary of Position

The Process Engineering Intern are enrolled school or fresh graduates looking to gain practical experience to match their theoretical knowledge. Working in a team of manufacturing experts and process engineers, they will assist in the work of process improvement. The Process Engineering Intern will strive to perfect andoptimize industrial processes in the making of active pharmaceutical ingredients at our St. Louis Plant. As an intern, you will glimpse various aspects of the work in the manufacturing processes, and creating documentation.

Responsibilities

Identifies and implements improvements to existing chemical processes using continuous improvement tools.
Ensures that processes comply with all cGMP/GLP regulations.
Perform initial validations of development processes.
Completes exception investigations and implements effective corrective andpreventative actions to prevent recurrence.
Interact with R&D, Plant Engineering, experts to develop simulation models of existing active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) processes.
Design and perform experiments to improve process operations. Create reports summarizing findings.
Minimum Requirements

Education / Experience / Skills:

Currently enrolled in a university degree program in Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment would be an asset
Ability to work independently once an assignment has been communicated
Organize workload to coordinate and execute an effective completion plan
Communicate effectively with all levels within the manufacturing community
Possess strong critical thinking, problem solving, analyzing, and examining skills to find the best solutions to various situations
Technical aptitude
Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office
Relationship with Others/Scope of Position

Reports to the Focus Factory Manager or Senior Process Engineer
Supports members manufacturing team
