Women's basketball opens 2016 with road win at Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The women's basketball team secured a road victory over the SLIAC's preseason No. 2 rated squad as Greenville won 71-61. Coley Baker led all scorers with 19 points and also collected six rebounds.
Meredith Crosier came off the bench to give Greenville 14 points in her top scoring effort this season.
Kelly Lenz posted a game high 11 rebounds.
Greenville trailed 19-17 after the first period but outscored Spalding in each of the three remaining quarters to pick up the 10 point margin of victory.
The Lady Panthers made 26-of-55 field goal attempts, including a 10-of-22 mark behind the three-point line. The squad converted 9-of-16 free throws.
The Lady Panthers (7-4, 3-1 SLIAC) currently hold the second place position in the SLIAC standings, and they travel to MacMurray on Wednesday night for a game at 6 p.m.
