Three G.U. Finalists at St. Louis Sound 2019
Published: April 13, 2021
G.U. musicians will take the St. Louis Soundmusic competition by storm on June 26. Of 11 finalists chosen to perform original music onstage at the competition, three acts hail from the G.U. community.
Clayton Jones 13 will perform his song Ringleader. Mikayla Hoult 21 will perform her song Small Things and Noah Schlosser 20 and Austin Simmons '19 will perform their song Scream. Each of the remaining eight finalists will also perform original music.
The winner claims a chance at professional recording and networking with an expenses-paid trip to Nashville, Tennessee, for up to six band members. In Nashville, theyll record a demo and meet music industry professionals.
Each musician secured a place in this American-Idol-style competition thanks to superb songwriting and performance skills. Judges selected participants based on submissions of original music in the rock, pop, country, hip hop, R&B and jazz genres.
Were thrilled that so many Greenville University musicians made the cut, says G.U.s Director of Strategic Design Danara Moore, who overseas the Universitys music business program. We encourage our students to bring top-notch skills and enthusiastic persistence to their work, whether thats music, music business or any other discipline. We certainly see the results in what our students produce.
The performance takes place at The Sheldon Concert Hall on June 26 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the St. Louis Sound event are $20 at the door or online through Metrotix. Proceeds benefit the HEAL Center for the Arts.
