Sean Anthony Washington joined the Greenville University Athletic Department in 2015 as its first ever full-time head cheerleading coach. Since Fall 2018, Coach Washington has overseen all spirit programs (cheer, dance, and mascot) as the spirit program director.

A Texas native, Sean Anthony has been in the cheerleading world for more than 15 years, cheering on high school, college, and all-star cheer teams. His teams consistently ranked nationally, and he personally won national partner stunt and group stunt championships.

Sean Anthony's coaching career spans more than a decade and includes high school, college, and all-star cheer teams. His teams won several local, regional, state, and national championships. He has also been a senior staff instructor and curriculum director for a major national cheerleading organization traveling all over the continental United States directing elementary, middle school/junior high, high school, college, and all-star cheer camps. He also led camps in Hawaii and Costa Rica.

In addition to being an accomplished tumbler and stuntman, Sean Anthony has coached tumbling for all levels. He holds coaching certificates in CPR, First Aid, AED, and is AACCA (American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors) safety certified; as well as being a USAG (United States Association of Gymnastics) member.

Because Sean Anthony also excels in choreography (choreographing more than 40 different national championship routines for college, high school, and all-star teams) and music mixing, he is arguably one of the best all around, most highly sought after coaches, choreographers, and cheer directors in the nation.

Under Sean Anthony's direction, GU Panther Cheerleading competed for the first time in school history during the Spring of 2017. The team has competed at CCA's (Christian Cheerleaders of America) national and collegiate championship, winning many accolades and awards. In 2017, the team finished first in the large coed college division. Hoguey D. Panther also won the college mascot division, and Greenville University was Grand Collegiate Champion with the highest score of all college teams competing (large coed, small coed, all-girl, etc.). The 2018 team repeated with a win in the small coed division. Hoguey repeated as college mascot champion, and the team repeated as Grand Collegiate Champions. Sean Anthony was also recognized as one of the Top Twenty-Five Christian Coaches in America.

Sean Anthony attended the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Texas, Winston Salem State University in North Carolina, and graduated from Liberty University in Virginia with a B.S. in kinesiology, majoring in health and physical education. In his free time, Sean Anthony volunteers with the Greenville Fire Protection District. He is certifed as an advanced emergency dispatch telecommunicator as well as a state licensed emergency medical technician. He also partners locally with the Kingsbury Park District.
