Student Activities - Student Government

Greenville Student Government

Who we are: Greenville Student Government Association (GSGA) is a community of students committed to excellence in serving the student body at Greenville University, by representing student interests, acting as a liaison within the college community, and sponsoring programs that encourage the growth and transformation of students and the institution, all to the glory of God. Currently, eight positions filled by student leaders make up the GSGA cabinet. These positions include:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Executive Financial Administrator
  • VP of Campus Activities
  • VP of Intercultural Affairs
  • VP of Student Outreach
  • VP of Campus Organizations
  • VP of Media.

What we do: While each cabinet member has their own unique, individual responsibilities, the primary role of GSGA as a team is to represent students at Greenville University. This is done through programs, events, and conversations. Some of the popular annual events are:

  • New Student Orientation
  • All College Hike
  • Homecoming Dance
  • Midnight Breakfast
  • Urban Plunge
  • Spark Leadership Conference
  • Street Fest

How to get involved: Elections for President and Vice President occur in mid-February. Once leadership is voted upon by the student body, the hiring process for the remaining six cabinet positions begins with an application and interview.

Student Senate

Who we are: Senate is a group of students working towards positive change for our campus. The group is made up of a variety of students from different classes, academic programs, and co-curricular activities, invested in making GU a better place. Class Councils is an entity within the Senate that plans trips and activities to encourage community within classes.

What we do: Senate writes proposals that work toward specific changes in aspects of campus life, participates in weekly conversations concerning our campus, approves financial grants for all campus clubs, and hosts an All Town Meeting where the entire community is welcome to share thoughts and participate in guided conversation.

How to get involved: All Senators are elected at the beginning of the fall semester. The voting typically happens during All College Hike.
