AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The baseball team surrendered an early lead but battled back to lose the first game 8-6 before pounding Grinnell 10-1 in the second game on Tuesday in Florida.

Game 1 Recap

Nate Miller did all he could to give the Panthers a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Grinnell, as the Panthers lost 8-6.

Miller had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He tripled in the second inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

C.J. Opp took the loss for the Panthers. He allowed seven runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked five and struck out two.

Grinnell never trailed after scoring five runs in the first helped by two errors.

A two-run home run by Travis Ralls closed their deficit to 5-2.

Grinnell pushed one run across in each of the second, fourth and sixth.

After pushing across three runs in the top of the sixth, the Panthers faced just a 7-5 deficit. An RBI triple by Trevor Montgomery, a groundout by Ralls, and an RBI single by Dathan Berning fueled the Panthers' comeback.

A one-run seventh inning helped bring the Panthers within two.

Game 2 Recap

The Panthers scored at least one run in every inning except the first as they rolled to a 10-1 win over Grinnell.

The Panthers got RBI singles from Caleb Miles and Jesse Getz in their two run second inning.

Caleb Miles racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Panthers. He singled in the second, fourth, and fifth innings.

Jonah Moore's seven strikeouts were enough to push the Panthers past Grinnell. Moore allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings.

In the third, the Panthers scored on an RBI single by Travis Ralls, plating Trevor Montgomery.

The fourth inning saw Greenville get a sacrifice fly from Danny Strohm, a run-scoring fielder's choice from Montgomery, and a two run double from Shane Olmstead in racking up four runs.

Getz and Max Gabriel had run-scoring singles in the fifth inning, and Miles posted an RBI groundout in the sixth.

The Panthers (4-12) face St. Scholastica on Thursday in a doubleheader.
