Football Tries To Extend Winning Streak At Westminster This Saturday

Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- This Saturday, the Greenville College Panthers (4-3, 3-0 UMAC) will travel to Fulton, Mo., to take on the Westminster College Blue Jays (3-3, 1-2 UMAC). The Panthers look to continue their current three-game winning streak. Defeating Westminster will also keep Greenville on track for the conference title.

The Panthers will rely heavily on senior running back Anthony Ambers (Apple Valley, Calif.). Ambers is leading the UMAC in rushing with 158.7 yards per game.

On defense, the Panthers have to limit the big plays of an explosive Westminster offense. It will be the mission of the young defensive line to contain Westminster's senior quarterback Tyler Kankolenski.

This is the third straight year these two teams will meet as conference opponents. In 2008, Greenville escaped Fulton with a 29-27 win, and last year the Panthers held off the Blue Jays 42-35 to win the UMAC South.

Kickoff is at 1 p.m.from Priest Field on the Westminster College Campus. You can listen to the game live on WGRN 89.5 FM or online at WGRN.net.
