ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Greenville College was awarded the 2012-13 SLIAC Sportsmanship Award for the second straight year. The Panthers won a SLIAC-best five team Sportsmanship Awards, including awards in women's cross country, women's basketball, men's basketball, women's tennis and baseball.
Greenville appeared on 55 of the 92 ballots, finishing the year with a total of 189 points. In addition, GC was the only school to appear on more than one team sportsmanship award ballot in every sport eligible. GC was voted as one of the top three teams in sportsmanship award voting in seven of the 11 sports that the College sponsors.
The SLIAC overall Sportsmanship Award was created in 2010-11 and is based on voting from the 12 team Sportsmanship Awards. In the team Sportsmanship Award voting, each individual school votes for three schools with points awarded on a 5-3-1 basis. The school with the highest point total is declared the winner of the SLIAC overall Sportsmanship Award.
Greenville College Athletics is proud to be the recipient of such an important honor.
