#GivingTuesday GU: Dyman Sodsaikitch ’19, Criminal Justice

Published: April 13, 2021

Faith integration made all the difference for Dyman in his criminal justice training.

This former U.S. Marine entered the criminal justice program aiming for what he calls the finish line of his desires, a job as a county sheriffs deputy proudly serving his home in Marion County, Illinois.

As Dyman trained for this career path, G.U.s faith integration gifted him with deeper insight into the heart of law enforcement: compassion for your fellow man.

I treat everyone the way I want to be treated, is Dymans life motto now. Its important, he says, to see others as people just like you, especially as you strive to enforce the peace.

He recognizes that same compassion in the G.U. donors who give so others can realize their educational goals.

I am thankful for the donors who support student scholarships, because I have learned that everyone is not the same," Dyman says. "We come from different backgrounds. Many people dont have much and need help in order to have a fair shot at obtaining a higher education.

Dyman is the grateful recipient of donor-funded scholarships including the G.U. Transfer Merit Scholarship and the Legacy Award.

You give students like Dyman a fair shot at their dreams plus Christ-centered training when you support #GivingTuesdayGU. Thank you!
