Head Coach McMahon Rewrites GC Soccer Record Books

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Greenville College head men's and women's soccer coach Brian McMahon reached a cumulative 136 wins in men's action and 105 wins in women's play in 2011 to secure the top spot for GC all-time soccer wins.

McMahon boasts an overall men's record of 136-85-27 with a win percentage of .603 in his 11 seasons of service. The new record holder passed former GC coaching great Tom Stonebraker who amassed 125 career wins in 12 seasons.

On the women's side McMahon posts an overall record of 105-90-9 coupled with a .537 win percentage in ten seasons, with both marking the top spot in GC history.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, McMahon serves as the SLIAC men's soccer chair, serves on the NCAA central region ranking committee, serves as the NCCAA regional chair, serves as the NCCAA National chair and also serves on the NSCAA central region ranking committee.

Brian McMahon is in his eleventh year as head men's soccer coach and ninth year as head women's soccer coach at Greenville College. Now in his 19th year of coaching soccer, McMahon has coached in the club, high school, and collegiate settings. In McMahon's tenure at Greenville he has recorded 241 wins in 11 seasons. In addition, under McMahon's direction he has coached 18 NCCAA All-Americans, 92 SLIAC All-conference performers, 19 NCAA All-region, 2 NCAA Academic All-Americans, and 9 professional development players. In 2004, senior Seth Huber (Coffeen, Ill.) was named the Kyle Rote Jr. Award winner, which is given to the outstanding national player of the year.

In 2008, 2010, and now 2011, McMahon led his men's team to the SLIAC conference tournament championship and qualified for the NCAA National tournament. The '08 panthers were the first team of any sport in Greenville's history to qualify for the NCAA National championship tournament. Since 2003 McMahon's men's team has compiled a record of 128-58-24 while the past three seasons under his direction the women have a 72-30 record. The past 5 years McMahon has led his men's team to 5 national championship tournaments with the '07 and '09 teams qualifying for the NCCAA National tournament while the '08 and '10 squads competed in the NCAA National tournament before losing to Loras University who went on to the NCAA Final Four. The past 5 years McMahon's teams have been both regionally and nationally ranked by both the NSCAA/NCAA and the NCCAA.

As a player, McMahon competed at Indiana Wesleyan University where he received NCCAA regional and national honors. During his 4 years at IWU he competed in the NAIA regional final four two times while also qualifying twice for the NCCAA National tournament and winning the MCC conference regular season and conference championship two times. He also was given the opportunity to compete in England, Ireland, and North Ireland with Athletes in Action following his career.

McMahon currently resides in Greenville, Ill. with his wife Jen who also works at the college as the assistant director for freshman admissions. They have four children: MacKenzie, twins Abigail and Keegan, and Ally Parker.
