GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The Greenville College Women's Soccer team earned an impressive 3-0 win over Bendictine-Springfield in their home-opener.

Greenville got on the scoreboard in the 13th minute of the game when Mo Murphy slotted a great pass through the Benedictine defense to Kieley Leach who shot it past the Bulldog's goalie. Leach's goal brought GC up 1-0 heading into halftime.

In the game's 70th minute, Panther midfielder Kelsey Panzau scored an unassisted goal, bringing the home team even further ahead of Benedictine. Just 17 minutes later, Kency Lopez sent a dangerous corner kick into the box straight to Emily Wright who was able to put the ball in the back of the net. Wright's goal brought the game to it's final score: 3-0, Greenville.

The Panthers out-shot Benedictine 12-1 in the match and GC 'keeper, Heidi Koehl, was credited with the shut-out.

This win brings the team's record to 1-2. The ladies next match is Wednesday, September 11 when they travel to Rose-Hulman to take on the Fightin' Engineers.
