Softball drops two at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The softball team fell twice on Monday as they lost 5-4 and 8-0 to Monmouth.

Greenville took a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh in game one, but Monmouth forced the game into extra innings with a three run frame.

Monmouth won the game with a run in the bottom of the eighth.

Tiffany Samsoe was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.

Hannah Burger gave up four runs, three earned, over 6.1 innings. Becca Oldham relieved Burger to get out of the seventh inning jam but picked up the loss as she gave up a run in 1.1 innings.

Game two was Monmouth's as they rolled to an 8-0 win, ending the game in the sixth inning.

Bryn McKie, Oldham, and Samsoe recorded one hit apiece.

Oldham was saddled with her second loss of the day as she gave up six runs, four earned, over four innings.

The Lady Panthers (16-11) travel to Webster on Wednesday.
