Softball secures second place in SLIAC

EUREKA, Ill. -- The softball team tied a bow on the second place position in the SLIAC standings with 5-3 and 3-0 wins over Eureka. Greenville used a four-run seventh inning rally to win game one and saw two second inning runs hold up in game two.
Greenville fell behind 3-0 in game one and cut Eureka's lead to 3-1 in the fourth.
Tiffany Samsoe's two-run single in the seventh gave the Lady Panthers the lead.
Hannah Burger pitched all seven innings in gaining her 13th win.
Bryn McKie was 3-for-4 with a run scored.
Samsoe, Andrea Martin, Jessica Laubecher, and Danielle Helms all recorded two hits.
Greenville's two-run single by Shelby Cash gave the Lady Panthers all the run support that starting pitcher Jessica Laubecher needed as Greenville got the 3-0 win.
Hannah Burger pitched a perfect 2.1 innings for the save.
The Lady Panthers (22-15, 13-5 SLIAC) face MacMurray in the first round of the SLIAC tournament on Thursday at 8 p.m.
