Eight new members elected to Greenville University Alumni Board

The Greenville UniversityAlumni Association is pleased to announce eight new members elected to the Alumni Board. The Alumni Associations Board of Directors provides expertise, advice, and support to the Office of Alumni & Church Relations and to the University at-large.

Im very excited about welcoming our new members, says Dewayne Neeley, Greenville University director of alumni and church relations.These new members graduated between 1966 and 2020 and represent a wealth of personal and professional experience as well as a love for our alma mater. I look forward to seeing how these alumni utilize their passions, personalities, and love for GU as they serve on the Alumni Board.

The Alumni Board supports Greenville University through:

  • Financial giving;
  • Recruitment of high school students;
  • Providing professional guidance to current students;
  • Awarding/recognizing alumni for their achievements;
  • Recruiting potential alumni board members;
  • Aiding with the planning and execution of alumni events, including homecoming;
  • Providing prayer and expressions of sympathy for alumni in need;
  • Attending events and staying up-to-date with college happenings;
  • Serving as a resource to Greenville University, the Advancement Office, and other alumni.

The Alumni Board meets twice a year (typically in March and September).

The new members are:

Margaret Boivin 10
A fourth-generation graduate of Greenville University and veteran teacher,Margaret Boivin(Busch 10) is passionate about the university that helped shape her. She currently teachesmiddle schoolspecial educationin Americas Dairyland. When Margaret and her husband, Mike, are not out enjoying the city of Milwaukee, she volunteers with her church worship team and plays bassoon in the Wauwatosa Community Band.

Michael Gonzalez 20
A proud son of immigrant parents,Michael Gonzalezis a first-generation college student. He teaches in the Chicago Public Schools where he enjoys waking up every day to serve young people, the future of this world.

Joel McCreary 99
Joel McCreary is a practicing anesthesiologist in Boulder, Colorado. He has served on several short-termmissiontrips to Haiti and the Philippines and is an active board member for Christian Health Service Corps. He is a husband, father, brother, son, runner, and outdoor life enthusiast.

Nathan Potts 18
As a student, Nathan participated on GUscross countryandtrackteams and received the UniversitysOrder of the Orange & Blackand H.J. Long Award. Nathan is currently a certified public accountant for Patton & Company, PC in Hillsboro, Illinois. He previously served as a senior associate for PwC.

Randy Sands 90
Randy Sands pastors the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro, Illinois, where he has served for 33 years. Randy and wifeBarbhave enjoyed 39 years of marriage. She serves as CFO at Greenville University. They have two grown married sons and four grandchildren. In his spare time, Randy loves to fish.

Ward Sussenbach 66
After pastoring Free Methodist churches for 40 years, Ward Sussenbach, though officially retired, still serves. He pastors the historic Mt. Gilead Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bond County. Ward also serves as president of the Bond County Ministerial Alliance. Wards family boasts many Greenville University (and College) alums including all his children, two in-laws, his wife, and three siblings. Ward is currently recovering from a near death experience with COVID.

Kathy Taylor 89
Kathy Taylorholds multiple advanced degrees including a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Kathy returned to Greenville University in 1998 as a full-time faculty member ineducation. Since that time, she has served in various executive leadership roles and currently serves as the Universitys associate chief academic officer. Her husband and two daughters, Afthan (Taylor) Reents and Abigail Taylor, are also Greenville University Alumni.

Janet Wise 83
Janet Wise retired last summer after teachingspecial educationfor 29 years at Tri-City (1983-1990), Divernon Elementary, Divernon, IL (1997- 2006) and Rochester School District, Rochester, IL (2006-2020). Janet now spends time tutoring, watching her grandkids, and participating in a Bible study group. Janet says she is blessed to be able to help her son and daughter-in-law in these unsure times.
