Core Course Requirements

HONR115 Introduction to Liberal Arts (3 Credits)

This seminar course serves as an orientation for incoming honors students. The course deals with topics and issues in the Liberal Arts, with special attention to faith and learning integration. Students will learn about the Liberal Arts approach to higher education, and the way knowledge connects across disciplines. Through select readings and discussion, students gain a better understanding of approaches to learning, and the significance of the life of the mind. (Offered every fall)

HONR289 Introduction to Honors Thesis (2 Credits)

This course provides the student with a hands on experience of the initial stages of a departmental thesis or project. Through carefully planned activities the student will develop foundational knowledge and skills in the areas of topic selection, research, project proposals, committee selection, style methods, and literature reviews. Students will engage in collaborative groups, exploratory assignments, writing, peer editing, and feedback to develop and expand their confidence, knowledge and skills in each area.
